Employee Spotlight: Caitlin Malone, Digital Content Specialist
Caitlin Malone has been working at Bisk for two years. Currently a Digital Content Specialist in the Marketing department, she was originally hired as a Course Content Editor in Instructional Design, now known as Learning Experience Design.
A lifelong Florida resident, Caitlin was born in Jacksonville, but her parents moved to the Brandon area shortly after she was born. Today, she shares a home in the Riverview area with her boyfriend and their two Shiba Inus, Soba and Yuki.
Question #1: What’s your favorite aspect of working at Bisk?
I love working here because of the people. In both of the departments I’ve worked in, the people were so nice and welcoming. This was my first job after graduating college so I was very nervous when I first started, but everyone I’ve gotten to meet has made me feel like I belong here. My bosses and my coworkers are the reason I walk in the door every day. They are just amazing.
The tuition reimbursement policy is another one of my favorite things about working at Bisk. I always knew I was going to go back to school to get my master’s degree, but I didn’t think it would end up costing me nothing. Thanks to Bisk, I’ll have my MBA in Marketing by 2019 at no cost to me.
Question #2: Who inspires you?
My parents are the ones who inspire me the most. Both of them have come so far in their own careers, and I hope to be as successful as they have been.
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for them.
Question #3: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in the last year?
I’ve learned that I need to give myself a break sometimes, physically and mentally. Stress can be a very toxic thing if we don’t manage it properly, and I definitely learned that in the last year.
Taking the time to stop, breathe and literally do nothing is so important to our health and wellbeing. For me personally, adopting yoga into my weekly routine and drastically changing my diet has helped me and my body manage the day-to-day stressors.
Question #4: What’s your professional passion?
I hope to always be doing something that is worthwhile. Working 40 hours a week can really feel like a chore if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing or feel like what you are doing is making a difference.
Working at Bisk does that for me because I know that someone is benefiting from the work I am doing. Because of Bisk, it isn’t too late for those people who already have a family or a career and want to get their degree or a certificate of some sort. It’s a joy to come to work every day because I know that in some small way I am able to make a difference doing what I do here at Bisk.
Question #5: What is your favorite meal?
Sushi! I would eat it every day if I could.
Thanks for sharing Caitlin. =)
