What comes to mind when you think of a working student?
More often than not, juggling multiple tasks, batting between locations and finding that work-play sweet spot are just some of the things that are required to achieve a balanced working and student life.
It may seem arduous and challenging to combat the two, (especially in a city like Berlin) because after all, your student years are meant to be the best years of your life.
At Bitwala, we ensure our working students are both well-rehearsed for their exams and fully capable of the challenges presented in our dynamic startup.
Who’s the lucky working student we’re talking to today?
Altynay is 24 years old, originally from Kazakhstan and recently relocated to Berlin to study for her Master’s Degree in International Management at the Berlin School of Law and Economics.
She is currently one of the Business development working students at Bitwala. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Altynay chose to continue her studies in Berlin for the city’s diversity, nightlife and international flair.
During her time at Bitwala, Altynay works on various projects while experiencing a company culture full of diverse and smart individuals and memorable moments. The incredibly flat hierarchy at Bitwala means even the smallest voices have their ideas recognised.
What have you learnt so far at Bitwala?
“Bitwala is the perfect bridge between my studies in traditional finance and real-life work experience within the crypto world. I received insights into how existing fintech companies are innovating the world we are living in today. I started by learning the basic functionalities of cryptocurrency products and discovered advanced concepts such as tokenization of assets and evolving cryptocurrency regulations in the German market.”
How has Bitwala prepared you for the working world?
“I have discovered how to apply the theoretical knowledge that I studied at university in the real world. I am constantly challenging myself and trying to use my new-found knowledge to come up with the best solutions and creative ideas.
There are so many amazing topics that need to be explored and education is never enough, getting out there and experiencing these topics is imperative to your learning. To fully understand how the Bitwala product works I am educating myself in different areas such as IT, Product Management, Security and Marketing. Finance is only part of it!”
How important is company culture to you?
“It’s important to feel good at work and have a relationship with your colleagues, especially your managers, which is key to being a great performer.
Working with professional and fun colleagues can make work a different type of experience, I feel motivated and well-supported in my activities. I have already collected many great memories with the Bitwala team and these moments are what matters in my day-to-day life.”
