Poetry on afterlife

Photo by Aron Van de Pol on Unsplash

Curtains close slowly
The final die has been cast
Incomplete song sheets

*

Cessation of warmth
A loud clock has stopped ticking-
A bronze urn awaits

*

All pious thinking
Falls down 6ft below soil-
An ant carries rock

*

Scripture is read aloud
Over a nonbreathing flesh
In black, they weep in white cloths

*

The thought of leaving
All those books I love to read
Is scary indeed
