A Look to Nature
Ears shall hear, but do they listen
Eyes shall see, but do they find
Aged was he, bold and gray
Never looked to nature that day
Not for me to behold, said he
A rose he planted, it did not flourish
Blamed the soil, the elements
Did not treasure time in planting another
In his youth, nature painted a drawing
A sea of words he could not see
By the ocean, he would frolic
But the tide’s echoes were sad, said he
Curtains drawn; eyes masked to the world
Heart and soul bereft of the countryside
If only I could picture the wonder of creation, cried he
the air I breathe,
the water I drink
the sun I see
the land I live
Is the peace I seek but leave behind
One day,
Of the eternal garden he dreamed
Of the golden harp, he hearkened
A bouquet of lilies awakened a smile
An evergreen spanned its branches like the arms of a child’s mother
An ocean of tears ushered tranquil caressing waves on its sandy shores
A gentle wind refreshed forgotten thoughts, and the summer breeze he once cherished
A Look to Nature and ears will listen, eyes will find-
Abundant gifts of nature are granted every day.
