November’s Second Week Prompt of Lifeline — celebrating festivals

a Christmas with snow on the
ground with streetlights all aglow
listening to the shuffling of your
feet in the white, new fallen snow

you wonder if sleighbells will really ring
looking up to the sky
and while you imagine what it would be like
you recall that it’s only a legend with a sigh

yet we can emulate the goodness
the real St. Nick shared with the poor
his kindness and generosity gave
much to legend and more

life changes much as you grow older
but children all ablaze with excitement
and joy
brings back youth to your heart and
bones with the unwrapping of each toy

Christmas tree lights so merry and bright
filling each day where it stands
with twinkling lights and ornaments aglow
on a tree filled with silver strands
