birthdays remind me of a
night lit up by a million stars
they carry our wishes throughout
the universe
from stardust to moonbeams
to the happy recipient
a child of the universe
celebrating their special day
with lighted candles that
portray the light of life and
all good things
celebrating my children’s
birthdays brought me much
joy and exhilaration
an adventure to find the
items they asked for
making it quite a task
and a journey
but to see their eyes glow
with happiness and excitement
was worth the task
now that they are much older
presents are easier to find
yet every year as they age,
I do as well
it’s amazing how fast the
years have gone by
a beautiful wondrous gift
of life to be with them at
every growing stage
