You Remind me of someone

“On either side the wild roses, their pink dewy faces turned to the sun, tumbled over the fences, sprawled on the ground and filled the air with their pure summery smell.” ― Betty MacDonald, Nancy and Plum

A crack in the pot,
A peel in the plaster,
Peeping from a corner,
Survival, you have to master,

Taking the scorch in your chin,
Towards the sun you move,
When frills wither and wilt,
With death you do groove,

Seedless you find growth,
Rootless your existence defined,
Throwing cheers to the sky,
Resistance you personify,

Poster-bloom of grit,
You rebel against the breeze,
Negotiating oblivion,
You rhyme with the bees,

Scattering your dreams
to the world listless,
Undying spirit, your presence
non-acquiescence,
In paths of struggle you restore
Faith,
You, snatching life from the jaws of
Death,

Abandoning artificial, adorning the fence,
You announce to the world your silent presence,
Uncared for,lending your quintessence,
Non-luminous ways, unyielding in essence,

To the virus-laden world,
You Shone in your armour,
To the virus free earth,
You show chink to the harbour,

Your ways familiar,
Reminds me of someone I know —
I walk into my room,
With a cluster of you in tow,

Shadows juxtapose, if walls could speak,
In unison we sail, child-o-wild —

Yes, You and me!

Author’s Note: “What a lonely place it would be to have a world without a wildflower!” ― Roland R Kemler
