Does Expecting Success Make You Successful?

Is it all just a self-fulfilling prophecy?

What if . . .
Our thoughts create our reality?
Well, whew!
And here I thought I was a victim of fate,
But now I see how silly that was.

If every person is responsible for everything they experience,
Then there are no victims or geniuses,
But no “free passes” either.
Every instance of cancer, person who undergoes torture, or baby killed by a bomb
Can be seen as getting what they create for themselves.

Is that the most enlightened stance to take?

Possibly.

It depends largely on whether you see this existence
As the tip of an iceberg or not.

Perhaps that victim was wanting the experience to learn a lesson,
To advance, to approach openly.
It’s hard to tell when you don’t see the whole picture.

What makes a success? What makes a failure?
What makes a winner? What makes a victim?
Perhaps these are not as easily identified on this side of things
As we’d like to think.
