Shame

Drawing of a child being scolded and belittled by an adult. The child has multiple negative labels depicted over their body, like ‘hopeless’, ‘unlovable’, ‘worthless’, ‘stupid’ and ‘ugly’.

Shame is the bastion of fear
a toxic, corrosive poison
bred into us over the years
slowly instilled, drop by drop

Fear has a healthy aspect
the self-preservation instinct
all other fears are irrational
they spawn hatred and anger
