The room and the rope

Abandoned house on a grassy knoll.
Shattered windows.
Graffitied walls.
Black smoke rises,
as the house exhales a sigh,
turning the near shrubs an orange hue.

A dog paces on the verandah.
Fading in and out,
between the painted memories.
His growls join the murmurs of the house
a silent crying has begun.
The old guard stands.

There is a room and there is a rope.
A thick straw black rope,
that smells of fresh demise
and tar and mourning.

The rope winds
as if a snake hunting
bulging and bloating
around the chairs
and tables.
The rope bends
through the room
like an old unhurried sea
which knows its destination.

There is a room and there is a rope.

The back end runs up to a black screechy fan.

Suicide was the fourth leading cause of death globally for ages between 15–29. In general, the findings show that men had higher mortality rates from suicide than women.

The pandemic, I am sure, did not make matters better. The UN released a recent paper suggesting that Suicide is a global health concern, with 1 in 100 deaths occurring globally due to Suicide.
