Poetry/Climate Change
The Wind Cries Scary
Earth, Water and Fire give Air permission to speak on their behalf
They hand the baton to the moving air
To run a solo relay round the world
Who is this wind who musses up our hair
Ripples across the dawn as it unfurls?
Wind then declares her ever-changing presence
She lifts roofs, bends poles and splinters branches
Bound by rules defined by Nature’s essence
Obliged by cause to give no second chances.
She fuels the flames which soar in forest fires
Whips wicked waves and tides in angry storms
Bestows cool breezes when the sun is higher
Manifests her power in varied forms.
She fills the sails of coastal fishermen
Who brave the seas to come home safe ashore
With empty nets again, they wonder when
Fish in the oceans will be tales of yore.
But now the wind is on a special mission
To stream across the oceans and the earth
Her credentials giving her permission
To tell the world the truth…
