“I’ve said it before, but it’s absolutely true: My mother gave me my drive, but my father gave me my dreams. Thanks to him, I could see a future.” — Liza Minnelli

Dear Child,

Are you doing things
you have never done before?

Wait — it’s not a reprimand
That’s a good sign,
That the sun is rising with all its
fervour, yet not drowning you in
Its scorch,

Life is not always about finding
words that fit,
It is about finding the self which
is a misfit, but still sits pretty,
throwing that comfortable smile
to the frowns around,

It is about listening to the noise
inside, that stretches the nerves
to its wits end,
Yet getting busy making music
with those hardened keys and
torn strings….

Look at you
You have done it
And you will do it again

I may not be there all the time,
And, on the way you may need a hand,
Which may not be easy to find
But searched right is bound to
make its way —

Take that hand however obscured
Draw it close however distant
Feel the warmth however illusory
Caress the cracks however hardened,

Then close your eyes and call the dreams,
If you are walking down a cold, dark ,lonely
Path, don’t worry —

Just know you are the sun who will
Light up the trail soon….

Your Loving Father

“My father didn’t tell me how to live. He lived, and let me watch him do it.”- Clarence Budington Kelland.

Futile attempts to sum how my dad is, because it is impossible, given the influence he has in our life. A rock, always guiding us to a path of light, siding our failures, celebrating our successes. On page with our weird ways and always the wind beneath our wings.
We, as his children live in his dreams, think in his brain and speak his words.
When I was ready to settle down with everything simple and local, he taught me to dream big.
And here I am, writing on him on a global platform (somewhat).
Anything written here will be less. Sometimes, less is more.

Thank you Sahil Patel and Lifeline for this June Last week Prompt, couldn’t resist writing a few lines:
Go down in the memory lane and remember the best memory you had with your father. Write a poem dedicated to your father.

Thank you everyone for finding time to peep by. Gratitude for engaging and inspiring.
