Irritated by all the Wordle Scores?
Don’t be a hater.
You’ve seen ‘em, I’ve seen ‘em. They’re everywhere — the little squares with everyone’s daily Wordle scores.
I was not an early adopter of the game, so for a couple weeks I just kinda ignored the colorful blocks. The last thing I needed was another time suck. But eventually, curiosity got the best of me, and I had to check out what all the hubbub was about.
Oh, it’s only one word a day! That is not a time suck at all. And goodness knows, I love me a good word game (having played more than 3000 games of online Scrabble to date). So sign me up for some of this!
The elegant simplicity of the game was another appealing factor — minimalism at its best. Hit the question mark in the upper left hand corner, and read all the rules you need to know. No ads, either!
So I was all in. I mean, as all in as you can be for something that takes a couple minutes a day. But it was bigger than that — I was part of the community that is WORDLE.
And yes, it entered our lives just when we needed it. Well, at least in my case, and I suspect many others. It’s been a longass winter, and once again pretty much stuck inside with Covid still lurking. We aren’t getting out and socializing quite as much, yet.
But here we are, as a group, doing the exact same thing. Together. Every day. The same damn word for every single one of us. Smartypants people on twitter, struggling some days, just like little old me.
