7 Toxic Thoughts You Need to Look Out For

We all want to grow every day.

We don’t want to feel like we are repeating the same path.

We want to move forward in the right direction.

We want to live by what we believe.

It’s easy to do this when everything is going well. But what about when things don’t?

What about when that coworker treats you like you’re their servant?

You know the one.

What about when they dump a pile of their work onto your desk even though you have plenty.

And you’re so ANGRY that you could just…

You get the idea.

In our everyday life, our emotions can get the best of us. In those moments, we are most susceptible to sacrifice what we believe and chose a wrong path. If this becomes a habit, we may even forget what we thought was right.

Now we’re lost.

But there’s a better way.

To grow, we first need to understand the motivations behind our current actions. When we are aware of these habits, we’ll have a chance to live by what we believe.

7 Toxic Thoughts

Our thoughts control our actions. If we want to understand why we act a certain way, there’s no better place to look than our thoughts. So that’s where we’ll start.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll look at seven toxic thought patterns in detail. Here they are:

  1. Pride
  2. Lust
  3. Seeking approval
  4. Comparing ourselves with others
  5. Assuming the worst
  6. Avoiding difficulty
  7. Doubt

When these thoughts drive our actions, they lead to some terrible consequences. Sometimes we don’t recognize it until after we’ve acted opposite of what we believe.

But there’s good news.

We can learn to identify these kinds of thoughts. If we pay attention, we will hear these thoughts in our head, feel the emotions in our body, and see the results in our actions. When we find ourselves headed down a wrong path, we can chose differently.

We can chose to live by what we believe.
