Welcome back to our Season 2 of LifeSci Beat! We’re thrilled with our first season last year, and we hope to bring even more exciting podcasts to you this year!

During our inaugural season, we published 8 podcasts which generated 2500+ listens and 1000+ article reads. Our guests spanned gene editing, cell therapy, medtech foundries, biotech VC, and more:

We sought to capture the business beat of early-stage life science innovation and the entrepreneurial journeys that make it happen, exploring the business of innovation across biotech, medtech, diagnostics, and more.

This season, we hope to kick things off with even more high quality content! That means more frequent and regular podcasts covering some of the most prominent leaders in the early-stage life sciences, over an even broader array of life sciences areas. To help us execute this vision, we’ve expanded the team — please welcome our newest podcast hosts!

Hagen Puller

Hagen finds powerful motivation in the stories of biotech, and is particularly interested in discovery platforms and innovative pipeline strategy. Prior to Wharton, he worked at Adams Clinical, an industry-sponsored clinical research facility for psychiatric and neurologic drugs. More recently, he has attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania.

Hagen is currently in Wharton’s Healthcare Management program, and is
pursuing an MD/MBA dual degree at the Perelman School of Medicine. Beyond co-hosting LifeSci Beat, he is involved with Wharton’s Venture Capital Club and mentors future healthcare leaders through the nonprofit Physician Track. You can also find him staying active with Wharton’s boxing club, or at the dog park with his furry companion, Sadie. Hagen graduated from Harvard University in 2018 with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology.

June Wang

June Wang is excited to explore the latest health technology advances and learn from the teams that are leading these innovations. Prior to Wharton, June was an investor with Medtronic’s corporate venture capital team. There she focused on investing and supporting early-stage medical device companies from across the globe.

June is currently a first-year student in the Wharton MBA Health Care Management Program. In addition to co-hosting LifeSci Beat, she is a member of the Entrepreneurship Club and Wharton’s Venture Foragers. Outside of campus, you can find June running along the Schuylkill River trail while listening to her favorite podcasts. June earned her Bachelor’s in Economics and Political Science from Barnard College.

Karan Naik

Karan is excited to keep learning about the business of biotechnology by joining the LifeSci Beat team! He currently works in business development at BigHat Biosciences, a Series B therapeutics company. Prior to Wharton, he was at McKinsey & Co as an MD Fellow where he served biopharma clients on R&D strategy, market entry, clinical trial design, and regulatory approaches while on temporary leave from medical school.

Karan is studying Healthcare Management at Wharton as a dual degree MD/MBA student with Penn Med. He is also an incoming co-president of Penn HealthX, a club at the medical school dedicated to healthcare innovation. Outside of school, Karan enjoys playing soccer with friends, watching any and all sports, and binging TV shows. Karan graduated summa cum laude from Ohio State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science.
