April showers bring May flowers, and April 27th was no different. Except this time, it was raining kittens.

On April 27th, the Austin Humane Society hosted its 10th Annual Kitten Shower. Austin Humane Society is the city’s longest-standing no-kill non-profit adoption center, according to the website. It frequently collaborates with other animal shelters and engages with the Austin community in order to reduce Austin’s homeless pet population and promote responsible pet ownership.

This event aims to raise funds to help care for the increase in kittens received by the shelter during Kitten Season, which runs from April through September. Funds go towards the purchase of supplies needed to help the kittens grow up to become healthy, adoptable cats.

Attendees were invited to participate in activities, taste-test and vote in the bake-off, check out local vendors and of course, play with cute cats and dogs.

While the Kitten Shower was free to attend, visitors could become a V.I.P (Very Important Pursson) by purchasing a $30 ticket, which included gifts, a Bake-Off tasting and drink ticket, as well as entry to win two passes to the shelter’s Whiskers and Wine event in May.

Visitors could alternatively spend $10 for a stand-alone Bake-Off tasting ticket, with all proceeds going towards the shelter’s operations.

Outside of attending the Kitten Shower, those wishing to support Austin Humane can donate an item by visiting their Amazon Wish List or sponsor the care of a baby, mom, or entire kennel.
