Every year each sorority hosts a number of events to raise money for their respective philanthropy. Texas Alpha Phi has been a top fundraising chapter in the south for women’s heart health for multiple years in a row. Every year they host an event called Slushies & Bunnies, and members are welcome to invite any of their friends or family members to help raise money for the Alpha Phi Foundation.

Slushies & Bunnies is an interactive event with a build-your-own slushie bar on the Alpha Phi front porch, and bunnies to play with inside. The company Tiny Tails brings in the animals, and allows attendees to play with the bunnies and hold them in their lap. Many members enjoy events like this because it’s an opportunity to invite outside friends into the Alpha Phi house and raise money for a great cause.

Alpha Phi also strategically plans this event in the middle of the week, just a few weeks before finals as a way for members and their friends to take a break from work and de-stress with treats and animals. The head of philanthropy for Texas Alpha Phi says she loves seeing the events come together because she sees how happy it makes everyone who attends.

Although Slushies & Bunnies is considered one of Alpha Phi’s smaller philanthropy events of the year, many members say it’s their favorite. It’s a come-and-go opportunity for members and friends, and offers a break from the stress of college, all while supporting a great cause.
