On June 4th, Stonewall Inn — the place made famous by the Stonewall Riots — violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and turned away a blind patron with a guide dog. Lynn’s friend Isabella videoed the encounter:

As of right now, their apologies have all been copy/paste and incredibly disingenuous. I’ve reached out and they won’t respond let alone list more than one accountable step — and even that is without a due date. There’s no news on how they’re going to handle the horrible attitude from their manager, Mike.

On top of that, they’ve used incorrect pronouns for Lynn despite news stories getting them right.

I would be mortified to be associated with Stonewall after them pulling ableist BS and their initial non-apology that put all blame on a third party security company — despite involved from Mike and others coming forward with their stories of discrimination. The fact that this happened during Pride month angers me to no end. I truly believe Marsha Johnson would be throwing bricks at the establishment right now.

Kirsten is a genderfluid writer, sexuality educator, and chronic illness/disability activist in Wisconsin. They run Chronic Sex which highlights how illnesses and disabilities affect ‘Quality of Life’ issues such as self-love, self-care, relationships, sexuality, and sex.
