Not familiar with Lift Up Others Fridays?

I rather liked switching up the order last week, and I think I’ll keep it this way from now on.

Meat: Tulsa Race Riot of 1921

Many people are not aware that yesterday was the anniversary of one of the most terrifying yet little known events — the Tulsa Race Riot.

On May 31, 1921, a group of white men went through Tulsa’s thriving middle class black neighborhood. They began stealing from homes, breaking items they didn’t believe black people should have, and setting fires to the Greenwood neighborhood.

It’s estimated that up to 300 people were murdered during this event.

Sadly, this event is not alone in the category of forgotten/untaught/covered up genocidal and harmful acts the US continues to hide.

Puerto Rico

It came out over the past few days that the death toll in Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria and the government’s lack of fucks given combined to kill more people than 9/11.
