invested.
much of what has shaped me comes in the form of literature. listening with my eyes, to each letter and syllable, my mind actively piecing together the meaning; this rush of inner-activity has both widened the horizon I see, and narrowed the path I walk.
I think this is a critical– but not singular– part of creating: investment. we must approach inspiration with an understanding that we are being invested into: by our selves, and by those we draw from. this posture of humility (because it is certainly a form of humility) allows us to be shaped by what’s good, to be strengthened by what’s bad, and neither be discouraged nor egotistic.
