We walk on green coated hills; hailstones slipping
Higher than the blood orange sun and dawning clouds
Our castle made of classrooms and childhood dreams
Stands unfinished and tall.

There’s a whisper traveling throughout the dorm
In the darkness of even fall
Cries of cheetahs and wild dogs running wild rings aloud
Whilst children inside cold rooms sit with warm blankets
Dreaming of the day’s small pleasures and pains.

Someone is Indian
And someone is Thai
Movie projectors reflect blazing pictures on classroom walls
And cheers and yells abound in the lit up school halls.
It’s a new place full of new people

The cool winds in nightfall caress the teardrops on my cheek
Cats follow my path
Dogs wag their tails atop still, stone clad hillsides
As the sky above us trembles with golden suns and bursts of rain.
I am seventeen and new here
This is my first home away from home
Hello one and all
