The littlest of things can hold the greatest power
Only a true teacher knows this best
A tender moment, a warm glance and a kind word
These small efforts leave their eternal footprint
On the heart of the child, who watches your every move
And observes every little thing that you choose to do
Moments that may seem trivial and everyday to you
Sometimes become an important memory that one remembers
Decades into their future, without you ever knowing
It might make them smile
It might make them walk through the world
With a straighter back, and their head held high
It might remind them to believe in themselves
On a day they just cannot bring themselves
To do so alone
A teacher’s role is never simple
It is not for the mediocre, or the bored
It is no job for a harrowing critic
Or someone who wishes
That they were doing something better
It asks for a talent in capturing attention
For a sense of humor, for optimism
For profound knowledge, and for empathy
For patience and enthusiasm
And the most important in all arts of education
Lies the power to correct without inflicting pain
Knowing how to heal insecurity
Through words of hope and encouragement
To have the foresight
To see a glimmer of potential in someone
Far before they see it in themselves
And then finally, to go home
After a long and tiring day of work
And still wake up the next day
To perform it all over again
But not just with the same methods
Making things different and renewed
Dedicated to spark a better experience every time
The littlest of things hold the greatest power
The smallest moments topple the line of dominoes
That fall over and tip to the greatest chips
Only a true teacher knows this best
To charm young minds
To warm pure hearts
Collects the strongest of blessings that exist in life
Through the gentle waves of time
True teachers enable more magic in this world
Than they may ever have the chance
To realise with their own eyes
