Superior Ice- Now in Technicolor

The beginning of Stimulight

Stimulight was just an idea before this night.

What a way to spend a weekend! Staying on the edge of Lake Superior in a log cabin with friends.

As night fell we ventured out towards the Lake and Johnny noticed his beer had immediately turned into a beer slush. -20 F is not the ideal temp for a beverage of that kind. As we made our way down to the lake we inspected the frozen ice that stretched out about a football field. A cliff that was usually the site of crashing waves was now an ice covered rock so us Stimulighters made our way down to the ice to set up our cameras and paint the ice with gel colored lights and a piece of steel wool. It wasn’t long before we realized the potential we had here.

With the dipping temperatures, and the sketchy ice, it was crucial that we made this shot count, otherwise why would anyone in their right mind leave the warm cabin with friends in front of a fireplace sipping hot cocoa and cinnamon whiskey to stand on a frozen Lake.

We got her done though and this is the result!
Time well spent.
