Lighthouse Relief has always been deeply invested in education. Indeed, in Ritsona camp, we provide two safe spaces for psychosocial support, activities, games, and non-formal education programmes for children and youth.
Many of our team are educators and child development specialists, so our work is guided by a strong passion for education.

Many of the children and youth we assist remain outside of the Greek education system, this is despite the school year starting at the beginning of September.

Other children are receiving an education, although this is hampered with them lacking knowledge of the Greek language, school supplies, and in many cases a nutritious lunch. We are hoping to change this, but we need your help.

We know that our passion for education is shared by many. In honour of this, and in honour of UNESCO’s #RightToEducation campaign, we excited to launch our first poetry competition.

The Rules

We’re looking for poems that fit the theme of “what education means to me” how you interpret this is entirely up to you.

The maximum length is 25 lines long.

How To Enter.

To enter, simply make a 10 Euro Donation on our website.
Once you have done so, take a screenshot of the donation, then send your poem with your name (or pen name) with the screenshot to comms.intern@lighthouserelief.org.

We guarantee that every bit of your donation will go towards helping the children and young people of Ritsona camp. To put your donation in perspective, the 10 Euros it takes to enter the competition is enough to provide a child with some key supplies and a quality lunch.
