The Lights on Women team is always looking to connect with motivated professionals working to push the energy transition forward. Whether you specialise in energy law, electricity, gas, access to energy, energy innovation, transport or climate, contact us with your proposal and shed light on topical issues in your field.

Some tips to get you started…

You don’t have to be well known to be a contributor, but you must know a lot about the topic you would like to write about. Remember that it is not enough to be an expert — you have to prove it to the reader! Find unique ways to capture their interest, refer to supporting research, describe relevant examples, use interesting data and add graphics.

You can submit a proposal and outline for your article which should answer the following questions:

  1. What is the central message of the article you propose to write?
  2. What is important, useful, new, or relevant about the topic you would like to discuss? Why do energy stakeholders need to know about the topic?
  3. What academic, professional, or personal experience will you draw on?

What will we look for when evaluating what to publish? Expertise, evidence, originality, usefulness & writing that is interesting and persuasive.

A few guidelines

  • Choose your format! Submit a review, case study, brief, commentary, analysis, or case note that brings your expertise to the forefront.
  • Final articles should be between 800–1500 words, written in British English, and submitted to jessica.dabrowski@eui.eu.
  • Contributions may include short videos or podcasts and we encourage the addition of charts, figures and other infographics.
  • Authors may also propose a long-form, multi-author article or a 3–4 piece series that comprehensively dives into a selected topic.

KEYWORDS: energy transition, clean energy solutions, gender and energy, prosumers, governance, regulation, innovation, renewables, business models, sustainability, electric vehicles, clean cooking, digitalisation, decarbonisation, sector coupling, zero-carbon economy, smart cities, local energy communities, storage, blockchain, geopolitics…the list goes on!

Editorial Process

Contributions will be reviewed by the FSR Editorial Board.

  • Contributions must be impartial, well-sourced, based on sound evidence, and presented in clear, precise language that will engage readers.
  • The FSR Editorial Board reserves the right to edit any post for accuracy, clarity or brevity. The contributing author will be invited to review the changes.
  • Once articles have been approved, we will ask that you send a photo as well as a short bio, your social media handles and, if applicable, your most recent publications or other relevant links.
