The world of Fintech is evolving rapidly, and so is Lightspeed’s approach to the market. The major trends we see emerging in 2023 include a movement toward more frictionless cross-border payments, the continued spread of open banking rules in the UK and Europe, an overdue realignment of neobanks and neobrokers, and the impact of new regulations on how enterprises disclose their climate and sustainability strategies.

To keep up with this rapid pace of change, we’re continuing to build out the team in our recently opened New York office.

We are happy to announce the addition of Samantha (“Sam”) Eisler to our NYC Fintech team. Sam, who joined us in late 2022, comes to us from Tusk Venture Partners, where she focused on investments in Fintech and Digital Health. Prior to that she spent five years at Google, working on go-to-market strategies for the company’s machine-learning-driven ad solutions, as well as helping to build an accelerator program for startups in emerging markets.

Financial services are complex and the entrepreneurial path to innovating in fintech is a maze of legal, regulatory, and compliance hurdles that requires careful navigation. Success also requires disrupting entrenched incumbents that are often the beneficiaries of these regulatory hurdles.

Sam’s experience at Tusk, a firm that is known for specializing in areas of regulatory complexity, positions her well to help founders on their journey as they challenge one of largest and most complicated industries in the market today.

Part of her focus at Lightspeed will be looking at new tools to help unify datastreams and workflows within the CFO’s office, as financial leaders take on more responsibility for real-time decision making. She’ll also work on evaluating tools that allow personal wealth managers to help clients construct portfolios and monitor asset performance.

Sam has a BA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Harvard Business School, and she is a die-hard University of Michigan football fan. Please join me in welcoming her to Lightspeed. If you’re building a startup that aligns with Lightspeed’s values and mission in the Fintech space, we’d love to hear from you.
