If you’re a brand new Lightwell user, let us be the first to say, welcome! We’re excited you’re here. If you’re one of our existing users, you might notice that Lightwell looks a bit different when you open it up today.

We’re happy to announce the release of Lightwell 3.0, which contains a visual redesign of the entire app (and Previewer App)! We’ve come to understand how people have been using Lightwell since we first launched and the result is a brand new interface that is faster and more intuitive for creators to use. All the features you know and love are still there, along with some added bonuses.

New Feature: Master Scenes

Now, you can give yourself a little head start when you make new scenes by setting up what we call a “Master Scene”. Plainly speaking, they’re scene templates. Master Scenes contain repeatable assets like background music, navigational UI elements and layers. You can also build custom animations and interactions into Master Scenes. If you’re creating multiple scenes with the same assets (visual or audio), Master Scenes might be for you.

A smoother interface

We’ve shuffled some core components around but the functionality remains the same. The four main building blocks of Lightwell now fall under color coordinated tabs. In addition, all sound assets (dialogue, music and sfx) have been rolled up into a singular place — Audio. Controls for each are situated directly below, maximizing the space that the canvas takes up.

Coming Soon

We will be rolling out brand new features in the coming months like canvas zoom, dynamic text and shapes, app performance and much, much more. Check out the image below for a sneak peak.

Alignment options, too!

Make sure to update to the newest version of Lightwell. If you don’t see an automatic update reminder, you can always “Check for Updates” in your main menu.

Until next time Lightwellers! Happy Creating! ✨
