Hey there! This week we’re showcasing an incredibly talented artist and creator. Lev just recently launched his first app made entirely with Lightwell and we can’t wait for you to check it out. Lev has beautifully illustrated the classic Grimm fairy tale “Town Musicians of Bremen” for iPad. Over 1000 hours of illustration went into creating this gorgeous experience.

Lev has been working for many years as a self-described “analogue artist”. Working primarily with brush and paper, he has a lot of professional experience as an artist with a background as a Creative Director. These days however, he’s partnered with his long time friend and digital entrepreneur to create innovative experiences with a classic twist.

“The interface is very intuitive. After animating of the 2nd Scene I already knew what would work and what not. So I could plan my dramaturgy in advance. All in all — especially considering that the program continues to evolve — I believe that upcoming apps will be even more dynamic and interesting.”

Naturally, we were curious about Lev’s experience with Lightwell and what drew him to it. “Not only did it cut down on the usual friction between the software developers and myself, but it also allowed me to do all the animations myself and better translate what was in my head.”

Check out this video he put together about his process. It’s pretty fantastic — did we mention he put over 1000 hours of work into these illustrations?

“Town Musicians of Bremer” has been localized into English, German and Russian and is available on the App Store today.
