How could something so beautiful and so fragile,
Be set free into a world so cruel and dangerous.

A paradox between safety and sensation,
A kaleidoscope of patterns and colors,
Navigating suffering on the wind.

A beautiful flying beast,
Beset upon the flowers and fruit,
While pesticide secretion sinks in.

A bewitching bug,
Set apart from the others,
Because of it’s color and tenderness.

Human folly thinking we can contain such a beauty,
In a glass case,
In a tapestry of taxidermy.

But Beauty is brief,
Beauty is free,
Beauty is momentary,
Beauty is fleeting,
Beauty is alive,
Beauty is life,

Life is beautiful,
Life will never die,

We are beautiful,
We are alive.

A butterfly is beautiful because it is,
Not because it once was,
Or because it is useful,
It simply is.

Here I am,
A beautiful being,
A creative creature,
A longing lover,
A solitary storyteller,
A patient pursuer,
An artful appreciator,
A thoughtful thing,
Putting thoughtful personification on insects.
