Another “Likely Story”

In 1982 Danny DeVito directed and starred in this prescient political parable about a loud-mouthed, egotistical New Jersey concrete mogul who decides to make an independent run for Senator because he feels “Jersey is going down the tubes” and only a common sense, non-politically correct, successful businessman such as he can fix it.

He runs a low-road, fear-mongering campaign promising to “make the streets safe again” and “bring back decent family values.” One by one he takes down his opponents with outright lies about their character backed up below the belt incendiary political commercials. Their ominous tag lines were to vote for him, “BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE!” & “WHAT THE HELL YOU GOT TO LOSE?”
