Mmmm is there anything as delicious as eating al fresco in the summertime? I honestly don’t think there is. In our house, we are taking every opportunity to have a bbq, or just eat outdoors. I’m looking forward to my friend Jean’s annual bday picnic this weekend, which will be socially distant with no sharing of food and drink… but who cares? At least we’ll see each other.

Black Lives Mattering continues — quite rightly — to occupy our minds, thoughts, and hearts. I can’t watch the videos or news anymore but continued to do my bit as best I can, including going to a protest on Saturday which was both peaceful and well attended.

Meanwhile, my husband got himself locked into a store for trying to step outside with goods he hadn’t paid for; I asked: what Black person in their right mind would try that?

After several weeks of masquerading as secret agent Agent №9, I was told the challenge is at an end…

My weekly Ideastream of prompts for writers and poets stayed with Black Lives Matters for a second consecutive week.

A poetry prompt from fellow bad influence writer Marilyn Flower brought this forth.

Two top tips for writers looking for s/cuts…

I think my boo coined a new phrase… Let’s see if it catches on.

Words from peers that moved me this week.

Marilyn Flower’s poem shared wisdom from our green friends, aka plants.

Ena Dahl shared what she got up to in her neighbourhood as a kid.

Melissa R. Mendelson on how she coped with bullies back in the day.

Edward Anderson had me laughing out loud with this account of his dance floor fandom.

One of the ways I’ve been coping with the trauma-inducing stories in our newsfeeds and on tv of late has been to soothe my jangled nerves with music — click on one of the youtube links in Caroline de Braganza’s article and see if it doesn’t work for you too.

Here’s hoping the relaxing of lockdown rules continues well for us all.

May you be well, healthy, safe, and at peace.

Sending you love and virtual hugs.
