The Next Big Milestone: LimeChain joins Hyperledger and the Linux Foundation

In 2017 the future looked bright, but the Blockchain ecosystem was just getting started. Everybody was extremely excited about this new thing that people called “the next internet”. It was all over the news, blogs, vlogs, and Twitter.

At that very point, it was clear that we were at the “Peak of inflated expectations” on Gartner’s Hype Cycle Curve. And, if we draw the parallel with the internet, the very excitement that drove the hype around this new paradigm was the one that is going to bury it. So what follows after that?

Here’s Gartner’s description of Trough of Disillusionment: “Interest wanes as experiments and implementations fail to deliver. Producers of the technology shake out or fail. Investments continue only if the surviving providers improve their products to the satisfaction of early adopters.”

Like we thought, as the technology started to reach its initial limits the people who were most excited about it, were also the ones that trashed it the most. And that was great! It meant that we are on the right track.

The phase at which Blockchain & DLT is now, according to Gartner, is the Slope of Enlightenment where we slowly and painfully start to realize the potential being technological, business and social.

That’s why we think now is the perfect time to join forces with the pioneers who were among the ones that shaped the internet and computing as we know it now.

This is not just a logical next step for us but a strategic move that will help LimeChain provide even better solutions to its clients & partners. We are really excited about working with Hyperledger and about the potential synergies, we will see with the Hyperledger community.

“As the Hyperledger community continues its global growth, members like LimeChain play a key role in driving forward new applications and deployments,” said Brian Behlendorf, Executive Director, Hyerpledger. “We look forward to seeing LimeChain’s contributions to the Hyperledger ecosystem and the work the team will do to help deploy the technology across industries.”

And last but not least, here’s a video of Bill Gates explaining what’s internet to David Letterman — Ouch!

P.S. Sorry for the bad video quality.
