Denver’s reputation as the bass capital of America is well deserved. Arguably the birthplace of the country’s brostep/EDM craze, the mile high city now boasts one of the richest and diverse electronic music scenes in existence. From the underground’s new home at Bar Standard to the infamous Red Rocks ampitheater, there’s a place to get blasted by bass nearly every night. Colorado is known as the home to a multitude of popular artists, but the city’s greatest musical innovation takes place at its roots. Thanks to the talent constantly sprouting from the dubstep community, Denver’s underground will never be buried alive.
Nobody is more familiar with the local landscape than Cord. The veteran DJ compiled a mix to showcase what makes the Colorado community so special. For locals, many of these names are familiar. Homegrown talent has a place on our sound systems — and for good reason. The producers featured in Cord’s mix are dons. Some, like Mikey Fisher, are established staples in Denver’s scene. Trisicloplox and DMVU are among the current wave of US dubstep artists garnering worldwide attention. Sub.mission resident Dillard is known for the deep vibes he brings to the dance floor in his live sets and original tunes. And Dalek One, Ind33p, and Myxed Up won’t be flying under the radar for long: the young producers have the potential to shape the future of underground sounds.
