Elon Musk’s “More Robots Than Humans” Dream Needs an Urgent Wake-Up Call
Are These AI Experts’ Robot Forecasts Pure Hype or Reality?
As a long-term Tesla shareholder, techno-optimist, and fan of Elon Musk, I want to see him aim high in his predictions for humanoid robots. I genuinely hope to witness billions of Tesla Optimus bots walking among us by 2040, just as Musk envisions.
Recently, he predicted that the number of robots could vastly exceed the human population within the next 30 years.
However, I believe Elon Musk needs to touch grass on this one.
The economics of humanoid robots just don’t make sense to me, and in this article, I’ll show you how many humanoid robots we can realistically expect by 2040.
Wait… It’s Not Only Elon Musk Who’s Wrong!
Elon Musk isn’t the only one making wrong projections about humanoids, though; other incredibly intelligent individuals in AI have made similarly unfeasible predictions that can easily be disproven with some “back of the napkin math”:
- David Holz, founder of MidJourney AI, predicts there will be 1 billion humanoids by 2040. Elon Musk replied on X that he agreed.
