I disagree.
AI will undoubtedly cause massive job disruption, but job disruption and unemployment are distinct concepts.
In 1800, 75% of people worked in agriculture. The remaining 25% worked as coachmen, saddlers who made horse gear, and candlemakers.
Technology disrupted most of those jobs, but how many people do you know who are unemployed because crop harvesting machines replaced humans in agriculture?
Although technology disrupted those jobs and replaced nearly 99% of people working in those old industries, we haven’t experienced high unemployment rates. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
The truth is… new industries are born every single decade.
As of 2025, unemployment rates are at historically low levels, despite technological advancements and recent developments in AI.
