Interacting with most platforms, protocols, and applications (Including Linear) in the cryptoverse will require one main item: a crypto wallet that allows you to store and transfer funds securely. Although there are a number of wallets out there, this guide will focus on one of the more well-known ones, MetaMask.

Step 1: Download the wallet

For this guide, we will be explaining how to set up MetaMask through the browser extension. Currently, MetaMask supports Chrome, Brave, Firefox, and Edge. Using whichever one you feel comfortable with, visit their download page and select the browser option. Click the install button and complete any steps to add the extension. MetaMask is also available for download on iOS and Android on their respective app stores.

Step 2: Creating a new wallet

After installing the extension, you will arrive at the page shown below. Select the ‘create a wallet’ option and agree with the Terms of Service which explains what MetaMask will and will not do with any information.

You will then be prompted to set a password (min. 8 characters). Once you have chosen a password, MetaMask has a short educational page on the secret recovery phrase. Please read through all the information before proceeding as having possession of the secret phrase means access to funds. Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. Once the setup is complete, your wallet is ready for use!

Step 3: Adding custom tokens

To add custom tokens, click on the ‘import tokens’ link in the bottom half of the page. From there you can search for your token. If it can’t be found, you can manually input the token’s contract address (Example Etherscan page for LINA). MetaMask should automatically update the token symbol and decimal fields, then you can add the token in for usage!

Step 4: Connecting to Binance Smart Chain

Given that LINA runs on both Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain, you will need to add BSC Mainnet to your Networks. To do this go to the Ethereum Mainnet tab on the top right of your wallet and click on Add Network. Fill the details in with the information shown below and press Save.

With the MetaMask wallet, you’ll be able to connect to our platform and use the various services we offer. MetaMask will be where users can store and view the balance of their $LINA and $LUSD tokens.
