Welcome to LineByLine
LineByLine is a hobbyist tech blog with the purpose of challenging and expanding the minds of its writers. It is an outlet for young professionals to discuss concepts that interest their current or aspiring careers. Beyond the overarching theme of “tech”, its expected that articles will discuss programming, opinions on business news, and human-computer interaction. Nevertheless, LineByLine serves as a platform for its writers to find out what truly interests them and how to communicate those interests to the greater public.
Meet the Team
Hello! I’m Jon!
I graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology (GT, Georgia Tech, or Gech for short) with a degree in Computer Science and a minor in Linguistics from Tech and I am now a code monkey at Salesforce!
I joined LineByLine when Ben asked because in the short time that I’ve known him, he’s had some real wacky, fun ideas that turned out pretty well, so I figured I’d follow him into the wilds of publishing on Medium.
I’m on the Data Privacy team at Salesforce, meaning I make the actual tools that keep Salesforce in compliance with the fun alphabet soup of privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA) as well as make sure that our users’ fundamental rights over their data are not infringed on.
My personal motto is “people over projects”, and that’s what I’ll be focusing on in my articles. I believe that if our code doesn’t keep the people that run it in mind, we aren’t really writing good or useful code. To that end, I’ll be exploring different ways tech and humans interact. Whether that’s human-AI relations, the ethics of tech companies, or interesting design choices, expect me to have some kind of opinion that I’ll voice here! Always feel free to ask me anything!
Hi, I’m Clayton!
I’m a recent graduate from Purdue University and just started my first full-time job as a software engineer at Salesforce.com, and even more recently have joined the LineByLine team :)
I’ve found that writing is a great way for me to stay involved in the development community, and it forces me to learn new things outside of work. So, with those things in mind I was happy when Ben offered up the idea to join the team!
Being an intro post I should give a bit more background on myself. As mentioned, I just started a job at Salesforce. I’ve joined a team in the company that was acquired in 2016 called Krux Digital. We work on a variety of web and browser tracking tools. Outside the office I enjoy skateboarding, programming, and sinking uncountable hours into Youtube.
Everyone on the LineByLine team is writing about something a little different in the world of tech. My posts will be very developer focused. Some things I plan to talk about are programming language design, rebuilding popular libraries/frameworks, interesting programming problems, and whatever else I find that intrigues me! In short, I like digging into how things work under the hood and finding the best ways to write software.
Hello world! Ben, here.
I’m a proud Indiana University graduate, Pittsburgh native, and Program Manager at Salesforce. I’m also your personal data-driven, hip-hop-loving, environmentalist!
I decided to start LineByLine because I wanted to create an outlet for me and my friends to explore our career and recreational interests- generally geared towards tech. I got interested in tech because I realized that we are actively living in a new era that is driven by AI, rapid innovation, and global entrepreneurship. Although exciting, we are also facing climate change, political unrest, growing wealth inequality, and tech monopolism. Do I want to use technology to help solve these problems? Of course! But, I can only do that by learning first. That’s what brought me to this blog!
At Salesforce, I work on the Operational Programming team in Business Technology. Everyday, I get to build solutions that help the entire company run faster and smarter. Since I learn so much about the nitty-gritty processes and automation tools at work, I want to use this blog to let me take a step back and address more holistic topics. Expect my posts to discuss the latest news in tech, business strategy, and the issues of today and tomorrow. Oh, and maybe some articles that analyze rap music :)
