As an international student studying in the U.S, I am always facing difficulties and challenges. However, choosing to study abroad also provides us with many benefits comparing to study in our home country. For example, we can make more friends from different countries, we can learn how to support our lives, as well as learn different ideas.

If I am asked to choose one most important from all the benefits above, I would probably choose that we can learn how to support our lives. When at home, we are used to depend on our parents. Many Chinese parents try to do everything for their kids in order to let them focus only on studying. But things are totally different when we study abroad. We need to spend enough time study as well as take good care of ourselves. We need to cook for ourselves when we miss home dishes, we need to wash our own clothes as well as manage our money. Not only this, we need to become mentally independent as an international students. When we have trouble in relationships with other people, or even feel stressed out about studying, we need to release the stress and switch mood by ourselves. Parents always feel worried about us, so that we cannot rely too much on them as when we were young.

Studying abroad fully prepares us to live and study independently. This is pretty important so that we won’t be in a panic later on when we begin to work.
