From my acknowledge, Chinese domestic students always envy international students, because the identities of international student mean a lot: not only a better academic dgree, but also a great family background to pay expensive fees. As one of millions of international students, I have to admit happily that we are enjoying many benefits of living abroad, such as fluent english, outgoing personality and best friends ever. But there is another more direct benefit that foreigners will never know: cheap prices of foreign brand clothes and make-up.
Paris, London, Los Angles and New York, in those metropolis which lead the fashion, you can find young Chinese crowded in Supreme shops (a street fashion band)and Flight Clubs(a famous sneakers store). The prices for those shoes and hoodies can be as high as 300 dollars or more. International students are among those zealous young guys, as we are actually paying a lots of money for them. People might feel confused by the fact that why a costly preferrence to expensive hoodies and Air Jordans can be a benefit forinternational student, but it is undeniably true. It’s necessary for you to understand the fact within certain context, which is high prices of foreign brands stuff in China.
In China, high prices of foreign brand clothes were made by several reasons including advertisements, delivery fees, taxes, and extra higher profits for merchants. While in America, those costs can be cut, that directly decreases the price of goods. Same theory of high prices can be applied to make-ups such as Lancome, Chanel and Christian Louboutin*. Lower price is every fair and beneficial for students who prefer them. This difference between Chinese and American price can be as higher as 10 percent, while it will be a difference when you buy a 7000 dollar Gucci bag.
People might argue that, the benefits for international students should have more meaning, like more positive altitudes toward life and more competitive ability in Chinese society, but there is no denying this saving of money can be the most direct. Another thing that should not be ignored is the ability of money planning, knowing how to purchase stuff with the least money to make it more worthy is also important to one student’s future, while he or she tries to invest or do the job related to economics and accountant.
Just be honest to yourself, anyone who saves money will be always happy. These simple happiness will largely benefit international students. Although these student are special with their identities, they are still normal people who will be glad with these small but good things.
