Job seeking is a term known to all of us. You could either be looking for a new job or could have been looking for one in the past or may need to look for one in the future, either way, we are all looking for means or ways to achieve our dream jobs. Looking for a job could seem to be quite the hassle, with such a diversified pool of talent and specializations these days. However, it is not all that intimidating if you combine the right networking skills with your normal job seeking efforts. All of us have had personal experiences or known of people who have had their job history quite sorted because of knowing the right people. Essentially, you can conclude that there is always someone looking for you, you may just not have met them yet. How you meet this person or persons, wholly depends on how well do you network for your cause!

Research has shown that about 60% of jobs have been found through the art of networking. The best job-seeking advice would, therefore, be to increase your number of contacts –family, friends, school and college alumni- anyone that you feel might help you get a job. Thus, it is necessary that you network with people and have clarity of your motives. This will be of immense help in landing you various opportunities suitable for your career.

What we essentially talked about here was career networking, the art of building solid contacts through skillful interactions, widening your network and exploring potential career openings with their help, intentionally or unintentionally. To be even more specific, career networking involves the use of personal, academic, familial or business contact to help in your quest for a job. It will also help you achieve your career goals and get a better prospect in the future.

Networking also helps you climb the social ladder and get a better and more important position. It is a great way to know what is happening in and around and grab up the best opportunities that come your way. Also keep in mind that once you have made contacts, don’t lose them, you never know when you might be in need of those contacts.
