Last week Linkcoin was lucky enough to travel to Montreal and join the rest of Canada’s startup community at Startup Fest! Startup fest is an annual event held in Montreal. The event is specifically geared towards new Canadian ventures and provides them with a chance to build connections with like-minded companies, grow their brand and learn about venture development from the events impressive slate of key note speakers.

Linkcoin was there for two days and maximized every minute of it. We got to meet eager members of Canada’s entrepreneurial community, and sit in on informative seminars. Most importantly however, was being able to converse with some of Canada’s most exciting blockchain startups, and talk with them about potential collaborative opportunities. As well, we gained a lot of strategic insight by talking to firms about how they each navigate through the less then a decade old Canadian blockchain industry. In an sector that is still in its infancy, few precedents and benchmarking strategies exist. That’s why the importance of collaborating with new companies, and the sharing of knowledge and resources cannot be overstated. Startup fest gave us the opportunity to do just that, and we developed many meaningful relationships that we hope to leverage moving forward. Here are a few of the companies that Linkcoin had the chance to share a dialogue with:

Nebula AI (NBAI:

NebulaAI (NBAI) is a blockchain integrated with artificial intelligence to help optimize the functionality of decentralized applications and create a more sophisticated sharing economy. Nebula AI’s blockchain architecture is designed so that miners can allocate a portion of their GPU’s hash power towards AI computing power, giving the network the processing capacity to run a number of decentralized applications. Members from Linkcoin and Nebula AI have worked together on previous projects and are looking forward to continuing this fruitful relationship.

Luge Capital:

Luge Capital is a Venture Capital fund focused on financial technology. It’s investment portfolio consists of early stage start-ups aiming to provide fin-tech & A.I powered solutions to the financial services industry. This was a very productive dialogue as Linkcoin’s parent company, Yesbit Technologies is always focused on R&D and has many exciting fin-tech focused projects coming down the pipeline.

Hedge:

Hedge is a blockchain project whose team comes primarily from a background in equity markets. Their team is building a passive cryptocurrency investment vehicle, as well as a cryptocurrency exchange. Though our companies have similar products, we approach our respective platforms from different angles. Linkcoin comes from a blockchain and development focused background, whereas the Hedge team comes from a background in capital markets. Coming from these different knowledge-bases provided both firms with a fresh perspective and gave each company invaluable insight into one another strategies.

Overall the weekend was a smashing success. Linkcoin was able to foster meaningful relationships across the Canadian blockchain community, while also talking with blockchain enthusiasts and preaching the power of P2P. Stay tuned for more updates!
