If you want to move your Linked Helper to another computer or you want to clear your Chrome cache, you can export your Linked Helper Data into file.

Please, read Important — Linked Helper Data Storage

How To Backup

  1. Open settings “Backup Linked Helper Data” and click “Download Backup” button

1.1 You can download All linked helper data

1.2 All data without extracted profiles data base. This function maybe useful, if your extracted database is a very huge, which may cause Chrome crash during extraction process.

1.3 Specified list from extracted profiles database:

1.4 “Minified” mode

This mode doesn’t backup: lists from “Profiles Extractor” and profiles information (names, companies). If you restore data from such backup file, in “View collected” widget you will see only profile identifiers without names and other information. LH will scrape this information again, when you run it.

2. Save file locally and / or your cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, MS OneDrive, e.t.c)

How To Restore your Linked Helper Data from a backup file

  1. Open “Restore” tab, click “Restore from Backup File” and choose your backup file

How to deal with Chrome crashing when you’re trying to backup or restore a lot of data

If you you scrapped a lot of LinkedIn profiles and you’re trying to backup Linked Helper data with mode All, you can run into an issue of crashing Chrome during a backup / restore procedure.

This happens because these procedures requires a lot of RAM, but Chrome limits amount of available RAM for a single Chrome tab.

Above we showed that you can split your backup into several backup files.

Another way to solve this issue is to ask Chrome provide more memory to a Chrome tab. To do this Chrome must be started with parameters:

--no-sandbox --js-flags="--max_old_space_size=32768"

For MAC:

  1. Close all Chrome windows
  2. Open “Terminal” : Launchpad -> Other -> Terminal
  3. Paste this code and press Enter
/Applications/Google\\ Chrome --no-sandbox --js-flags="--max_old_space_size=32768"

For Windows:

  1. Close all Chrome windows
  2. Find Chrome shortcut on your desktop and make right click
  3. Choose “Properties”
  4. Find field “Target” and replace it with this string:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --no-sandbox --js-flags="--max_old_space_size=32768"

or if you already have some other parameters there, then just add space and this string:

 --no-sandbox --js-flags="--max_old_space_size=32768"

5. Click “Ok”

6. Start shortcut

You will see this warning message, but you can ignore and close it:

Now you’re ready to create a single backup file with all your data or restore from such file.

Automatic backups

LH can create automatically minified backups, but only if there is no function running in the current Chrome tab and only when you manually reload LinkedIn page.

LH will not create a backup file in case:

  1. one of LH functions is running or scheduled in a current Chrome tab;
  2. LinkedIn page hasn’t been reloaded / refreshed.

Please, keep in mind — the better way to protect your data from other extensions and programs is to create a separate Chrome instance:
