Zeeko — Sales Navigator Has Separate Privacy Settings For Profile Viewing?
Back in Spring of 2018, Linkedin™ introduced a brand new privacy setting for their Sales Navigator platform. The setting has wildly been neglected by most people. The rollout was done quietly, and an email was later sent notifying subscribers of the new settings.
Here’s a screenshot of your privacy settings in Sales Navigator (click here).

You Now Have Dual Privacy Settings For Profile Viewing
For those in the know, Sales Navigator is an entirely different platform than Linkedin™ Free or Business (also called Premium). It looks different, the URL structure is different, and the features are different (my personal favorite is tagging). And the reason for this article — the privacy settings for profile viewing are now different as well.
The two settings are 100% independent of each other
Why It Matters
If you pay for Sales Navigator, you’ll absolutely use it for both search and profile viewing. And if you’re a BA user, for messaging. And unless there’s been a recent change made by the development team, the default privacy setting in Sales Navigator is private mode. Your normal privacy settings for profile views may be public, and they’ll stay public when you’re on the normal Linkedin™ platform. But, it’s 100% independent from your Sales Navigator settings.
I’ve found many Sales Navigator users running in private mode, not realizing there’s an updated privacy setting. If you want your business connections, prospects, leads, and followers to know that you’re investing the time in reading their profile (through profile view notifications) — you do not want this setting to be private.
If you have Sales Navigator, check it out.
