We are excited to announce that LinkForest.io is a Chainlink Reviewed Node Operator.

Why Chainlink?

Chainlink is undoubtedly one of the most exciting projects in the current crypto scene. New projects using their oracle system are announced on a weekly basis, code quality is top-notch, and last but not least, their developer documentation is superb!

We are proud to be part of the Chainlink Node Operator group!

Our Chainlink Nodes Infrastructure

Across all of our projects, our main focus is on security and availability.

For Chainlink node infrastructure, we are using a combination of our own infrastructure and cloud services (AWS, DigitalOcean). Even though we could have run the entire Chainlink infrastructure on AWS alone, it is more reliable to complement the use of AWS with another cloud provider such as Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Digital Ocean, Linode or own infrastructure in case AWS has a multi region or global failure.

Each set of nodes is geo-redundant by being hosted across different regions by different providers. Our own servers are hosted by a hosting provider certified in accordance with DIN ISO/IEC 27001 that also offers state of the art DDoS protection and multiple 100 GBit/s peering points on the backbone with a guaranteed bandwidth of 1GBit/s.

We are using three different ETH WebSockets API providers. In the next 4 weeks we will migrate from using 3rd party ETH API providers to our own ETH nodes with 3rd party providers as a fail-over option.

We have a policy in place for performing regular updates as well as emergency hot-fixes when necessary.

Best practices for running secure Chainlink node

In addition to the official documentation requirements listed, we added a few additional security points:

  • Password authentication is disabled as we only use SSH keys for access
  • IP addresses with access to the servers’ SSH ports are white-listed
  • All incoming ports are closed by default (both server and firewall level)
  • Access to each 3rd party service (AWS, Google Cloud, …) uses 2 factor authorization
