September marks the start of the school year. Here at Linode, the Technical Writing department has put on their mortarboards and dived into some great new topics.

Among the topics covered was a great community contribution about installing Alpine Linux on a Linode. Alpine is a minimalistic distro built off the grsecurity kernel.

Based on several suggestions, both internal and from the community, we revisited several existing guides to update, fix, and enhance them. Among these was our Fail2Ban guide, where we were fortunate enough to work with a few project maintainers through GitHub to adjust some key configuration files to match their convention.

As we progress through the remaining submissions from the old bounty program, you can expect more guides to come on interesting, new subjects. And once we’ve cleared the backlog, we can gear up to launch the new bounty program! Stay tuned!
