While Linux-based laptops and personal computers are no oddity anymore, some machines stand out even before they hit the store.

The “Kubuntu Focus” laptop is one of those machines. It’s a workstation aimed at power users, with specifications that make you wonder how much this thing will cost when it comes out in 2020.

The new laptop is built and brought to market by the Kubuntu Council, MindShareManagement Inc, together with Tuxedo Computers, a German-based company specialized in Linux computers and compatible hardware.

The hardware that was combined to build the “Kubuntu Focus” seems like a good fit for serious programmers, CAD artists, and video editors.

A Core i7–9750H 6c/12t Turbo @ 4.5GHz processor fuels the other components that are dimensioned generously: A 6GB GTX-2060 for fast graphics processing, 32GB DDR4 2666 RAM helping with huge compiling operations, a top-of-the-line NVMe from Samsung (1TB 970 EVO Plus), and “superior cooling”.
