A few days ago Hyperbola Linux announced that it would drop the Linux kernel and become a BSD — while this is indeed rare, developers exploring alternative default desktop environments for their Linux distributions is pretty common.

The ExTiX Linux distribution used Ubuntu as a base in the last release, with Xfce / LXQt serving as the desktop environment.

Now, with ExTiX 20.1, things have changed a bit. ExTiX now uses the Deepin Desktop Environment since it is now based on Deepin 15.11 (which is still based on Debian, just like Ubuntu).
