We start the month with good news, we were finally able to rollout the beta release of Linx Wallet on February 2nd for iOS and Android today, February 3rd.

Numbers

We had over 6900 registrations for the beta release. We did see this as a bit unexpected and we suspected that groups that hunt for free airdrops / rewards were part of this.

For a beta it is important that users give us feedback so we can improve and fix issues that we could not find ourselves. So we needed to filter the list somehow and we decided that being present in the Telegram chat group was mandatory, because the airdrop hunters were right, there will be an airdrop…

Anyway, there are now 265 members in the beta group and so far there have been 65 installs, and most importantly, we got some amazing and helpful feedback.

Issues

Last week we didn’t manage to post our usual article as we had our hands full dealing with some very annoying erratic node behavior (random high CPU spikes), also we decided we did not like the way transaction history was being presented so we had to revamp that as well before we could release the beta.

Our nodes are running pretty stable right now, and with help of the beta release we managed to catch a lot of small bugs that attributed to balance not showing correctly, which should mostly be fixed by now.

There are some issues on Android with certain phones and Android versions that we need to dive in, sudden crashes or having trouble starting the app. These are unfortunately well known problems with an open system as Android.

There were overall minor issues that we fixed pretty quickly. What I really liked so far is the input from the beta testers. Positive and negative, I love the discussions we can have in the group and that will lead to an amazing wallet that in a short while everyone can enjoy.

What’s next

First of all I want to thank all beta testers for their support, supportive comments and critique and the effort they put in testing and improving the wallet. Much love from the complete team of ThinEdgeLabs ❤️

Besides making sure the wallet is stable on as many Android devices as possible, we are hard at work in delivering a completely new experience in ‘transaction history’. We believe this is really important, because a “chainless” approach means 1 transfer consists of many transactions, it is terrible to see all these transactions separately. We managed this so far for outgoing transactions in a nice way, but the experience needs to be the same for the incoming transactions.

After that we will move towards an open beta where everyone can participate. In the mean time we are building the swap feature so we can release that soon as well.

Overall last few weeks have been quite exhausting and there are probably much more to come, but we are alive and kicking. There is no turning back now, Linx will become THE wallet on Kadena.

Your’s truly
