So, who do I see now when I look at myself in the mirror?

I see parts and shades of different people. I changed over the years. I lived. I loved. I suffered. I learned. Phases came and went. And from all of that, some parts stayed and turned into the person I am today. One of those being the ugly girl with too much body hair. The one who became overly self-conscious about her body. Who always expects others will mock her, somehow, about something.

You Don’t Fully Own Your Body by Elodie Ferreira

By addressing body-shaming and its effects, we can create a culture where girls feel respected for who they are, not just how they look.

What Is Body-Shaming?

Body-shaming is the act of criticising or mocking someone for their physical appearance. It may involve negative comments or attitudes about a person’s weight, shape, size, or any other aspect of their body.
