Google Data Studio is amazing when we want to have all our data from every Digital efforts well organize! But sometimes is very difficult to connect all data from our Digital Marketing efforts (mainly non-google data). With this post I will explain my journey in 5 steps how I connect the data from one non-google partner with Google Data Studio

  1. Connect you Google Analytics Data and Non-Google Data with a third party connector

To connect your Google Analytics Data a Non-Google Data you should use a third party connector. In my company we use Funnel.io, but there are other option in the market that you can use to do this job!( for example: Supermetrics).

For my Data Studio dashboard I want to use the Google Analytics Data (with the utm_source of my partner) and import all the cost from the partner, basically to create a overview of all the campaigns that we are running with this partner.

2. Aggregate all the data with a third-party

After you connect your data to a third party connector, it is time to aggregate and prepare your data to be exported. In the image below you can see my example from Funnel.io:

If you need you can create custom metrics for you Data Studio dashboard, in my example i need to create metric called “Cost per Session”, for this metric I used Sessions from GA and the Cost from my partner.

3. Export all the Data to a Google Sheet

With Funnel.io you can export your data to a Google Sheet and schedule a daily update. This will be the source that Google Data Studio will use to display your data.

4. Connect the Google Sheet with DataStudio

After you send all the data that you need into a Google Sheet is time to connect your Google Sheet to your dashboard in Data Studio.

5. Create your Dashboard!

Finally you are ready to create your Non-Google Dashboard in Data Studio! Here it is my example:

In conclusion, you can have all your data (including non-Google) in your Google Data Studio Dashboard. Basically you need to follow all the 5 steps above and have fun with Google Data Studio.
